A majority of people go to Siem Reap to travel later to Angkor Wat. More than just a place to stay while you’re visiting the Angkor Archaeological Park, Siem Reap is a beautiful city in its own right and has a lot to offer a tourist. These are the unique places that might not necessarily be on any tourist map that you would think of during your Siem Reap travels.

When you go to Siem Reap to travel, you want to bring back something with you as a memento of your trip. There are many markets in Siem Reap to travel to in order to find these treasures, including the Psar Chas (also known as the Old Market), which is to the southern area of Siem Reap. Travel here to find that unique souvenir you were looking for, it has an attractive collection of artifacts and tourist junk Be very wary of anyone who claims to be selling something antique. Either they are lying, or the antique is stolen.
The Central Market, located at the corner of Sivatha Blvd and Achamean Street, is, as the name suggests, at the center of Siem Reap. Travel here to find an eclectic collection of clothes and trinkets for good prices. It is ok, and even recommended that you bargain prices in this market, which is not true for all markets in Siem Reap. A lot of stalls carry the same things, so do some research to find the best deal. The Central Market carries lots of interesting things, and some of them aren’t available in Thailand.
For a unique reminder of your Siem Reap travels, The Khmer Ceramics and Bronzes Centre is a great place to get a souvenir. At the Centre, young Cambodians are trained in the Khmer ceramic and bronze arts, and they also sell their work. If you want to try it yourself, there are half-day courses specially geared towards visitors in ceramics and bronze casting. There are courses for both adults and children available. While you get into the Centre for free, they do encourage donations, which help support the students.
