Since the year 2000, over 8 million people have chosen to take up residence at gated golf communities. In fact today one in every eight Americans are taking up residency at these communities. But these communities are nothing new – they have been around since the 19th century, and they are also often referred to as guard-gated communities.
Such a community has high property values, and provides an opportunity for safe, low-risk investment. Golf-lovers, in particular, find these communities even more attractive because often they are located close to a golf course. In many such communities the members look after the maintenance themselves in their own interest and this ensures that everything works really smoothly.
Often these communities are made by a Homeowner’s Associations and they naturally ensure that the member interests are upheld in the gated community. All problems related to maintenance are dealt with by the Association efficiently, which are also in charge of collections and law enforcement issues. Gated communities are however costly, with prices being almost always in excess of $250,000. These communities thus are good places for those people who want to lead a good lifestyle and also wish to maintain their prestige. However it also needs to be mentioned here that the price is not so steep in some communities.
Security and privacy is of prime concern in these communities and that is why there are security guards and gadgets all meant to uphold the privacy of the residents. Security guards are always manning the gates and they will not let anyone get in without a valid entry pass – and the electronic gadgets at various places all give confidence to the members to go about doing their daily activities completely relaxed. Anyone not carrying a valid entry pass is not allowed entrance into these communities by the guards who are posted at the gates. Knowing fully well that they are completely safe, lovers of the game can finally tee off and enjoy the game.
The residents of the gated community can vary to a great deal – there are newly married couples to elderly people to those who just come here to stay for a few days. At the community you will find well maintained common service areas such as postal mail centers, community parks, benches and meeting rooms. There are many sophisticated and luxurious homes where members like to stay and often they are also close to the golf course.
