I think you would be hard pushed to find a single smoker anywhere that wasn’t aware of the dangers of smoking. Media campaigns continue to highlight the dangers so it’s almost impossible to ignore the problem. Let’s face it if you haven’t received the message by now you never will. I should think by now we all know that lung cancer, in the majority of cases is caused by smoking and not just to those people over 65 years of age or those with a genetic disposition.
For some reason, people are under the impression that you have to be a regular smoker for it to be a hazard, well, think again because if you have just one cigarette it will taint your lungs for a month. Imagine what a pack a day will do to them. Perhaps it’s time to consider reading some recent articles on lung cancer and see how good you feel about smoking then.
Unlike smoking, learning something about the problems it causes isn’t going to hurt you is it? Today, physicians are falling over backwards to help people with an addiction who want to quit smoking before it’s too late. There are some medical conditions that once highlighted the individual will take appropriate action but this isn’t generally the case with smoking.
Despite all the warnings, it is only when something serious happens to them that some smokers take notice and start taking heed of the warnings. Smokers are quite happy to go about day to day ignoring articles on lung cancer until they have are diagnosed with a condition of their own because you can’t ignore it anymore.
One of the most amusing things I’ve ever seen is a person smoking through the hole cut out of their throat. I though I had seen some truly bizarre things in my life before this but this person is living (for now) proof that there are some people that just cannot quit smoking. You cannot go on explaining things away and ignore the proof that smoking seriously damages your health.
Documented evidence and articles on lung cancer are full of conditions that have been caused or made increasingly worse by smoking. Another point to mention is about second hand smoking; have you ever noticed just how badly you and your clothes smell after being a in a bar inhaling other peoples smoke? The case for this is now so strong, more and more countries and places are making smoking illegal in specific areas so isn’t it time you wised up?
